In short, I realized my CPU is overheating when I load games or run just two apps, with temperatures hovering between 31-80°C. It runs at stock speeds of 3.8GHz, but the speed in Task Manager jumps to around 4.78. The cooler seems worn out and needs replacing soon. Now I want to reset it back to its original settings, but I’m not sure what steps to follow. I’ve heard about removing the CMOS battery on the motherboard to reset everything, and also about using BIOS settings. I’m hesitant about handling PC parts because I’m not confident in the process.

Windows 10 Pro is running on an i5-7600K with overclocking to 4.8Ghz at 1.35v. BIOS settings were adjusted to default. RAM includes Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-2133, and the system uses 4GB of RAM. The GPU is a GeForce GTX 980 with 980GB RAM. My pump is running but it seems underperforming compared to its capabilities. The previous owner mentioned most parts are only a few years old, so I suspect the cooling fans are worn out.
