I’m offering my built computer with Windows 10 that’s been activated using my personal account. I informed the buyer that I’d perform a clean install and update drivers, as they’re unfamiliar with the process. My main question is: How can I re-activate Windows on this machine without needing my personal credentials? I’ve obtained the Windows Media Creation Tool and created a boot USB from it, but I’m hesitant to repeat this until I understand the necessary steps. I’ve searched extensively, but the information seems mixed and not very clear. Appreciate any guidance you can provide!

I think Windows 10 is connected to hardware IDs that match your setup. Consider installing Windows and setting up an offline account (don’t sign in using a Microsoft account) without entering a product key during installation. If you’re prompted that Windows isn’t activated, you might need additional steps. Also, there seems to be a method to retrieve your product key from your Microsoft account or from Windows after activation, which should restore the same system using that key since your hardware remains consistent. Hope this assists!

okay. Listen up, I do this literally every day. While installing and configuring Windows10 during the wizard you are going to get the sign into/create a Microsoft account screen, should look like this: Now. If you do NOT have that "offline account" option in the bottom left corner. you will type "Admin" into the email/phone box and hit next. Now type "123" into the password field and hit next once again. It will fail and let you create an offline account. You're welcome

Run the Windows installation without logging into a Microsoft account, opting for an offline setup. Purchase an additional product key and apply it to activate Windows.

I think it functions best with the latest versions. The home edition seems to require a Microsoft account, and you must completely disconnect from any networks to use an offline version.

Did you use Windows 10 Home on an HP 2000-2bw19wm laptop today? Just clean the drive and reinstall via USB.

It seems you're referencing an earlier version of the setup guide. You mentioned a similar situation with an old HP Compaq and provided links to resources for creating a local account during Windows 10 installation.

Recreate using the latest version. It speeds up after installation. Just follow these steps: if it doesn’t work, share a video—I’m not sure I’m magical enough to prove it!

It's actually what I observed: the offline choice isn't available in Home versions. It only appears when I run it on my own machine with Pro. Microsoft seems to have some quirks here...

Admin, please confirm your identity by entering a password. A sample could be "123asd". If this fails, you'll be prompted to enable offline access.
