@BlackMage2
Reference: ". Isn't freedom of choice of end device (also for the ONT) standard practice for all internet providers?"
No
.
Likewise for modems and routers. There is usually some limited device list and if you are using (or attempting to use) an unlisted device any and all problems are on you.
ISP's do not want anyone/customers tinkering with device configuration settings. That has expanded into limiting access to diagnostic information and logs.
Of more interest, I believe is "Either I provide the ISP with the GPON ID of my device, or I access a link that sets up the bridge after entering the device ID."
What or why is driving the requirement to bridge?
And specifically what do you mean or are referring to as "device ID"?

The device id refers to the GPON ID, also known as the modem ID or GPON serial number, which uniquely identifies your fiber optic modem/router linked to the line. This 12- to 16-digit code appears on the device's label or GPON SFP module and is essential for establishing the connection.

And once more, they explained what your ISP stated when you inquired about it.

You're trying to circumvent the device ID of an already-installed unit to enable a non-supported device. What's the reason behind this attempt?

I don't have an unsupported device; the only condition is that the device meets the GPON standard.
