I’m preparing a new PC and upgrading to Windows 11 has been a bit of a challenge. What’s the best way to get the latest version without spending too much? - My nearby stores are offering Windows 10 at a lower price than Windows 11. If the upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 is free on Microsoft’s site, wouldn’t it be smart to opt for the cheaper option? - Numerous online sellers provide digital product keys. Are they reliable and safe to buy? - I already have a legitimate Windows 10 copy on my current system, which I plan to sell. Would the license carry over to the new machine? The main concern is whether I’d need to retain the OS if I were to sell my PC. Looking forward to your advice. Thanks ahead!

Ebay or scdkey (the one Greg Salazar supports) are genuine grey keys. I own around four of them and they function perfectly. You could purchase Windows 10 for less than $20 and move on. You can connect Windows 10 to your Microsoft account, look up instructions online. I believe a system reset will remove the key from the PC you're selling, requiring reactivation when the buyer purchases it.

Do you consider spending money solely to alter the desktop background? Let me know if you're mistaken, but unregistered versions of 11 work perfectly fine except for the personalization options.

free choice: lacks personalization, includes watermark (supported by Microsoft) ~20$ option, grey market keys available (I’ve used one without problems), 100$ option – purchase official Windows 10 key, upgrade 140$ option – buy official key. I’d prefer grey market keys too. Stick with Windows 10, not Windows 11 – it feels like a downgrade to me.

I've mentioned this many times, the main reason to choose Windows 11 is having vertical monitors and needing to align content at the top and bottom with the Windows+Z shortcut. That's the sole reason I prefer it.

Would you accept a recommendation for a reliable source to obtain a grey market key? Personalization features are essential for me, and I’m prepared to invest in that. Regarding Windows 11, is it really as problematic as some claim? Isn’t support for Windows 10 winding down soon?

win11 is changing in many ways that I don’t like. It just feels like win10 with a new paint job, but it actually makes everyday use harder. I’ll stick with win10 as long as it’s supported. Once it stops getting updates, you still have the chance to upgrade for free.
