Jesus Christ yes. That's the top CPU for emulating PS2 games, with high IPC and clock speed. I'm using an i3 4160 and it handles even the toughest titles smoothly.

I think the term for game disk versions is ISO, though using the correct name might reduce some confusion. You can also make ISOs of your own games, which is quicker than downloading them. For example, I have a collection of PS2 games but don’t own a real PS2, so I relied on making ISOs myself.

I've received prior warnings about downloading pirated content here, so I'm keeping it brief. This emulator seems to be the top choice. http://pcsx2.net/ You'll need to download a BIOS as well. (search for PS2 BIOS downloads and the first result) Then simply search "PS2 roms" on Google and download the games you're interested in. There are clear instructions available on various websites explaining the process. http://pcsx2.net/getting-started.html Also, keep in mind that PS2 emulators can be quite demanding on memory and CPU.

Unless you're knowledgeable about the topic or have a tech edge—which, honestly, your question suggests you might not—it could be simpler to buy a used PS2 on eBay or Craigslist. Usually they come with a good selection of games at a reasonable cost. Using downloaded ROMs puts you in a legal gray area if you don’t own the original copy.

You can play PS2 emulators using genuine PS2 discs, and I do this regularly. If you have the game, it's not a violation.

It seems OP likely doesn't plan to apply this approach consistently.
