I recently fixed a problem with my default Photos app on Windows 11 that didn’t load in full screen by switching back to the Microsoft Photos Legacy App. It now works perfectly, and I can open everything properly. However, there’s a minor issue I’d like to resolve.
I understand you can hide the filmstrip by pressing L or disabling it in the right-click menu, but this isn’t a lasting solution—it keeps happening. I’ve looked it up, and it looks like a built-in quirk in the Legacy app that others also encounter.
I’m curious if a fix or workaround has been discovered for Windows 10 users, or if there’s a registry adjustment I could make.

What order of key presses and mouse actions are required to install the Microsoft Photos Legacy App? Consider generating a macro that includes pressing the L key at the end. For more details, refer to https://windowsreport.com/windows-11-keyboard-macros/. It might be helpful to press the L key last. Once created, run the macro using a shortcut icon.

Update:
So I've researched this, and it looks like with MS removing the toggle from the settings, and not being able to registry edit a WUP, the filmstrip is going to be here to stay in the Legacy app.
Which honestly...I'm kinda fine with now. For those who don't like it, it
DOES
have a nifty feature where you can select multiple images and do side by side comparisons (which is handy at times). So hell...now I kinda dig it! Thanks all!
