Hello, I plan to purchase these components. I'm buying them for an upgrade to my gaming rig, as the new BIOS allows non-K Skylake CPUs to be overclocked. I don't know how to do this yet, so I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations you have. If there are any upgrades suggested for my list, please let me know. Thanks a lot, Ajsski99

It's certainly beneficial to overclock, provided you act promptly and assemble a Z170 board with a 6400, allowing you to maintain the existing BIOS version while achieving the desired performance.

First, take care of yourself and opt for the unlocked version right away. Even if they managed to overclock the non-K model, it doesn't guarantee the results will be consistent.

Intel is preventing the overclocking of non-K Skylake models. It may be beneficial to opt for a K CPU if you wish to enhance performance further.

Intel is preventing the overclocking of non K Skylake models. It might be beneficial to consider a K CPU if you wish to overclock. Is it worth doing so? I'm on a budget and K chips are pricier, so what alternatives would you suggest for overclocking versus not? Thanks, Ajsski99

It's definitely worth boosting performance if you manage to do it on time. Using a Z170 board with a 6400 can be done while keeping the existing BIOS version, and you can overclock it freely. As long as Intel doesn't surprise us by changing this in a Windows update or drivers.
