I'm using an i5 4460 on a Z97 A motherboard from Asus and I was wondering if anyone here knew how to overclock it. Yes, I understand it's a locked processor but I also know there are methods to overclock locked ones. I'm fairly certain my motherboard supports this and I probably won't need an aftermarket cooler (though I plan to get an H80i GT in a month or two) because the overclock won't be very high.

You can achieve a small boost by tweaking turbo ratios, but it’s limited to just two bins or 200 MHz. The FSB might increase by 3 to 5 MHz at best. Perhaps using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility could help maximize the multipliers. I’m considering this with my Haswell 4700mq laptop CPU.

You can't increase its speed beyond what's built-in.

No, you can't significantly overclock that setup.

Intel Extreme Tuning Utility is a Windows application. You can use it instead of the BIOS or vice versa, but not both at the same time. In my setup, I upgraded from 34x one core, 33x two cores, 32x three and four cores to 36x one core, 35x two cores, and 34x three and four cores.
