So here’s the situation I’m facing—I’m just starting out with overclocking but my main goal is a small boost, not a huge jump. The current speed is 3.5 GHz, and I’d like to raise it to around 3.8 or 3.9. The main reason is that I play Arma, which is CPU-dependent, and I just wanted to improve performance a bit.

Here are my details:
ASRock H97M Pro4 LGA 1150 Intel H97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Motherboard
Gtx 970
8 GB of RAM
500-watt Corsair cooler
I5 4690K
For the CPU cooler, I just ordered the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus – a CPU cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes.

The questions are: Is it safe to do this? Are there any videos showing the process? Or would you mind asking here if someone has done it before? Thanks.

CX and thank you. What's the top CPU you could get that fits the LGA 1150 for that project? If you don't mind me asking. The i7 4790k is a good option. The CPU you already have works well for overclocking, but the H97 boards don't support it. You should look for a Z97 board instead. They all allow overclocking.

You have the incorrect motherboard for overclocking; you need a Z97 board. Check the relevant link for details. Also, Corsair 500w options vary in quality—some perform well while others may pose risks when overclocking.
