How to modify your Corsair 1866 BIOS for Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7
Hello,
Here’s a summary of your build details:
- Corsair 900D
- Corsair 1200 Axi/indv sleeved with Corsair Link
- AMD 9590 8-core, 5GB liquid cooled CPU
- Running 1 4x120mm RAD.. All Koolance Liquid loop
- Corsair 4x8GB 1866 MHz C9 Memory
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 980
- LG Blu-Ray player
- Double LCD fan controller
- Samsung Evo 256GB SSD boot drive
- WD Raptor 1TB SSD
- I suspect there are more components but they’re not relevant
My issue is that the memory isn’t running at 1866 MHz, even with BIOS presets. I haven’t overclocked before, so this will be my first attempt. I’m sorry for being new to this. Could you check if adjusting the voltage per memory channel is necessary? I tried setting it to 1866 but the system crashes on Windows every time, saying it’s unstable. The stock speed is 1333 MHz and can be boosted to 5.00 GHz with liquid cooling. My RAM isn’t liquid cooled yet, so I wouldn’t want to push it to 2k GHz unless it meets the 990fx specs. I’d like to raise my CPU speed to 5 GHz since it’s stable and cool.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Todd
Is there an EOCP feature in your BIOS? If yes, turn it on and choose 1866, then consider increasing the DRAM voltage by 0.06.
