Hello, everyone, I observed a brief dip in my FPS from 60 to 50 and then below 20 during gameplay. This happened after lowering the CPU below 1 GHz, which eventually returned to normal after some time. However, it reverted again shortly afterward. I've already tried all the measures to manage the thermal throttle auto-downclock feature.

1. Using ThrottleStop – unchecked the BD Prochot. Still the issue remains.
2. Set the multiplier to maximum for all cores via XTU.
3. Disabling SpeedStep increased the worst-case speed, causing it to drop below stock levels almost every time. I believe turning it back on would help.
4. C1E was turned off without any effect.
5. Disabling turbo also had no impact.

My question is whether I can simply force the CPU back to its original speed for my Core i7 - 4710HQ (2.5 GHz), regardless of overheating, even if I really want it to run hotter? I have MSI Afterburner installed to monitor temperatures during games. If it reaches 90°C, I’d better stop... indeed, my CPU hasn’t ever hit that mark yet, around 80-87°C it started auto-downlocking (sigh).

But what if it never reaches 90°C at all, even with the auto-downclock system turned off? According to Intel’s specs, my CPU can handle up to 100°C. So 80-90°C should still be within safe limits for me...

I just want to know if there are any other settings that automatically reduce the CPU speed when it reaches certain temperatures. I’d prefer all of them to be disabled so the CPU can run at its maximum speed until it overheats. (Of course, I won’t let it happen.)

I plan to keep monitoring the temperature and decide to terminate the program when it hits a specific threshold so the CPU has time to cool down. I use Thermal Grizzly Conductor, and recently cleared all fan dust and repasted with liquid metal about a month ago.

Alienware 15 R2
GTX 980m
16GB DDR3L
Thanks... ^_^

USAFRet suggested fixing the issue. Move it to a place where fans can be cleaned and the rest of the interior can be cleared. Also consider using new thermal paste and a laptop cooling pad.

What if I say theres no overheating at the first place, because for me 80 celcius not too bad so I assume its just the auto downclock system that was triggered....I just want to turn off the auto-downclock system.
Ive clean my dust and fan, and I even use Liquid Metal for my thermal paste (Thermal Grizzly Conductonout) for my GPU and CPU. So yeah...

If it is not overheating and downclocking due to overheating....there is no reason to try to force anything with the clock speed.

So I'm asking if there is any way to make it not downlock even it is overheating?

I am not aware of any method to do that.

So basically even with throttlestop cant stop the BD prochot to trigger downlock when it detect the overheat..?
