Hi, for setting up a new PC I see fans come with two connection types—one for connecting to each other and another for linking to the motherboard. How should I install five fans? Should I link them together first before connecting the first one to the motherboard?

Try to connect as many devices as possible to the motherboard. Some boards offer 5 fan interfaces, others don't. If your setup doesn't have enough space for all five, you can add them. When adding, it's best if they match in purpose, like having two front fans or two top fans.

I was worried you wouldn't return,
I have three intake fans
And two exhaust fans
Should I link the intake together, then connect one of them to the motherboard?
And the exhaust together, then link it back to the motherboard again?
And should I connect the first fan to the motherboard or does it not matter?

Try to connect as many devices as possible to the motherboard. Assuming you have four-pin fans, their speeds can be managed by the motherboard. You may merge intake and exhaust together, but I prefer not to if it's feasible.

Avoid linking the CPU fan with any other fans, as the motherboard only has two CPU_FAN headers—one for the CPU fan and one for the rear exhaust fan.

Yes, it has two CPU fans, so I can use one for the rear. But would that impact performance?
