I understand your situation. I’m familiar with assembling a computer, but installing an operating system can be tricky. You’ve seen some videos, but they didn’t seem very useful. You’re considering Windows 10 when it comes out, or maybe a Linux distribution—though I think you might have misspelled something.

You get it by purchasing or creating an installation disk, or by downloading an ISO file onto a USB stick. Once done, simply connect it to your computer, choose the appropriate device in the boot options, and go through the setup steps... note: if you struggle to say "Ubuntu," it might mean you're not quite ready for Linux yet...

I previously asked a comparable question. Using a USB installer is likely, though a disc drive should also work. Place the disc or start the PC by pressing F12 during installation to choose the boot device. The Windows setup should launch. Good luck.

Create a 8GB USB drive with OS ISO, plug it in, use Rufus to flash it, select the ISO file, and complete the process.

From the point you notice "Press any key to boot from inserted media" it means: 1. Choose to Install 2. Pick the drive and/or partition. For new installs you must create a partition and format the drive. 3. Verify your language and localization settings are correct. 4. Wait. 5. Enter username, PC name and admin password. 6. Install updates. 7. Install drivers (usually not needed on Linux). 8. Complete.
