How to increase the clock speed of an AMD A10 7850K to 4.7 GHz
How to increase the clock speed of an AMD A10 7850K to 4.7 GHz
I have a build with these components:
- Spec Alpha Cabinet
- Corsair CX600 power supply
- Gigabyte G1 sniper A88X motherboard
- AMD A10-7850K overclocked to 4.0 GHz
- Cooler Master SEIDON 120V liquid cooling
- Kingston UV240 GB SSD
- WD blue 500GB HDD
- ADATA XPG 8GB RAM
- 3 Corsair red LED cooling fans
- Overclocked MSI Armor GTX1060 at 6 GB
Currently, I'm at 4.0 GHz with standard voltage settings. I want to reach 4.7 GHz using BIOS, but I'm unsure about the exact steps and voltages needed. Could you guide me through it step by step? Please explain how to adjust the voltage and what values are correct. Thank a lot!
expressing interest in overclocking a CPU is quite challenging, since it involves many factors.
the psu is solid, but I’d suggest something more suitable for this purpose.
the same applies to cooling, as the 120 might not be sufficient to maintain low temperatures.
is the LC unit installed as exhaust or intake? could you install another fan to boost performance?
you can search online for information like average clocks and voltage levels achievable with your system (step by step).
but most CPUs aren’t identical, so focus on using the highest possible clock speeds without excessive voltage increase (which adds heat).
i managed to run 4.4 on my 3770k without extra voltage, but it required nearly the maximum allowed for that processor to boot above 4.7.
so operating at 4.4 might be feasible, with a range of 4.5 to 4.6 and a small voltage boost, depending on conditions.
