How to get IP on steam?
I was recently burglarized and my laptop was stolen. I’m having trouble locating the device because its location isn’t showing up on the screen. It’s connected to my Steam account, which automatically logs in when I open it. I need to find out how to get the IP address of the person using it so I can track them through Steam only. The Steam account is linked to my choice, and if he does anything, I’ll be alerted. Anyone have any advice?
visit steam support

enter your support account if needed, or create a new one separately from your Steam account.

it’s unlikely you can identify the person or location that accessed your account. However,

provides a general overview of what occurred.
in short, enable authenticator and 2-factor authentication for your important account. I use winauth on my personal computer only, not on my phone or any other device, so no one else can access my Steam account.
I believe it's not worth your time since a single IP address is often shared among many connections. This serves as a warning for laptop users—activate biometric security options like Windows Hello and fingerprint scanner if you can. Most thefts happen unexpectedly, not deliberately, and weak safety practices make it easier for bad actors to succeed. However, with active security measures in place, you can significantly reduce the risk of loss. After all, data is far more valuable than physical devices.
I previously worked at a computer store where I encountered many people trying to unlock laptops. We generally agreed, but we would ask for their mobile number and ID card number for clear reasons, which usually helps deter most of them.
I'm not confident the police require a warrant for steam since it's your account.
I’m unable to locate a method for showing your IP address, only a general city and state based on WHOIS data, which may not be precise. The safest option is to reach out to the police and provide all available details, as the ISP won’t assist without law enforcement involvement.
Not using Steam, but if Chrome is installed you can get their IP address here
(if you're logged into your account on Chrome that is)
https://myaccount.google.com/device-acti...medium=web
With this information, you can present yourself as a concerned citizen if needed.
DO NOT dial 911. Search for your local police department online and use the contact details they provide. Stay calm, be confident, and be polite—this approach usually works well when reaching out to authorities. If you think there might be drugs involved, they’re more likely to assist you.
EDIT: That link no longer displays IP addresses. Check your Gmail, scroll to the bottom right, and click "details" to view your login history. This will show all your Google sessions along with their last access times and IP addresses.
Visit
http://en.utrace.de/
and enter the IP address you’re interested in. It will reveal the ISP associated with it. When contacting the police, simply provide them with the ISP details and they can issue a search warrant, helping you recover your device or stolen items.
Really hope this assists!
