You're wondering about proper deletion on an SSD, especially when dealing with compressed files. Simply moving items to the Recycle Bin isn't enough—it doesn’t fully erase them. To recover space effectively, you should use the built-in tools in your operating system or a reliable disk cleanup utility that handles overwrites correctly.

He removed everything completely, right? Plus, using shift+del removes files without using the recycle bin. If it's a permanent erase, there are tools available for that (like Eraser), though I'm not sure it functions perfectly.

This action removes the item from the Recycle Bin just like deleting it, but some people think emptying the bin doesn’t truly delete files. Or are you referring to clearing a drive?

The cleaner offers a "clear all unused areas" function that resets every vacant spot once you remove the file.

Performing a secure erase can shorten the lifespan of an SSD. Removing the file from the recycle bin erases its location, letting the space be reused by other files. Secure Erase is better suited for HDDs and not ideal for SSDs unless you want to completely wipe all traces for safety.

Same as writing files again, but here instead of 1s and 0s there are just 0s. Modern SSDs can handle many petabytes of writes, so a few hundred gigabytes isn't a big problem. You don't need to overwrite unless the person you're talking to is worried about losing data.
