The Intel core i3 2100 at 3.1Ghz works well on an ASUS motherboard, but the OC settings are hidden in the BIOS. It seems the processor needs to be unlocked somehow. I'm not sure if a BIOS update from the manufacturer is necessary. The time it takes for the CPU cooler's heatsink to warm up depends on the model, and at 4Ghz you can expect a noticeable performance improvement. Liquid cooling is an option now, but I've been considering my red LED fan cooler with its six heat pipes.

The CPU is currently locked and cannot be overclocked or unlocked. Intel provides a specific section for non-locked CPUs, indicated by a 'K' in the model number. Additionally, a Z series motherboard is necessary to enable overclocking of a K CPU.

Technically I nearly attempted to overclock a Core 2 Duo once, but I'm unsure when this was restricted. Intel CPUs seem to have limitations, and the 2100 model doesn't have a k at the end. Also, I realized I misread that earlier. Thanks for clarifying.
