I have an asus gl502vm with the new kaby lake cpu and 1060 gpu. I need to adjust the fan speed or control it based on temperature, but I can't change it in the msi afterburner because I don't see a fan setting there. It's my first time using a laptop, so is the fan speed adjustable?

The link provided points to an ASUS Gaming Center utility for that laptop. It might offer a way to manage the GPU fan.

in msi afterburner press the settings/properties button on the lower part, in the top search for the tab called fans set values for low temperature and low rpm, higher temps at medium rpms and high go up to 80% more or less, avoid putting 100% too much noise

In MSI afterburner, press the settings/properties button on the lower part. In the top search, find the tab named fans. Adjust the values for low temperature and low RPM, set higher temperatures at medium RPMs, and increase up to 80% or less. Avoid setting 100% for maximum noise.
