The IHS dimensions are extremely compact, making "application style" irrelevant since a full CPU can be covered with minimal adhesive. The pea-sized approach has proven reliable even on high-core Ryzen processors.

I find the pea method to be insufficient. Maybe we have smaller peas here? I don't know. X works fine for me, if there is too much it will simply be forced out through the sides by the pressure of the HSF being screwed on. Just look at the sides as you screw and carefully wipe if needed.
