Curious about the future of Star Citizen and its connection to real-world astronomy. Will classic star signs appear again? Can we discover Earth-like planets similar to those we understand today?

Well, CR mentioned you'll be able to (or at least he wanted it to be) eat and visit restaurants, etc., in some way. I think there won't be a hunger system like Sims, but the goal is to create a different world beyond our own. You die once in the game, and that's it—no respawn. Plus, there are many other interesting features. It should feel very realistic. Regarding your question... I’m not sure if planet exploration will cover what we know today, but it’s something they’re planning to add.

they aim for complete exploration but haven’t started developing a procedural generation system yet. they’ve built a fully functional physics engine, and I’ve been able to forecast ship behavior using actual models, which suggests it should work.

The Star Citizen storyline acknowledges Earth's presence, suggesting a universe with genuine solar systems. However, it also blends imaginative sci-fi and fantasy aspects, such as alien life, which could mean entirely new worlds exist.

It seems the story is loosely inspired by real events but not strictly faithful to them. The presence of advanced terraforming tech suggests a different world but maintains continuity with human history in the lore. Earth and our solar system remain central, with Mars as the first terraformed planet. Future research on synthetic worlds will come later, after the game launches. Exploration beyond fixed landing spots won’t be available in the initial release, though some open areas might appear later. Game mechanics will blend realism and fun—death will matter, but instant respawns won’t, while capture for bounties won’t result in long prison sentences.
