How much should I overclock
How much should I overclock
Hello, I'm looking to boost my new PC's performance. It has an Intel Core i5 6600K and a Corsair H100i cooler. I'm curious about the limits of overclocking, including multiplier settings and voltage adjustments if needed. For more details, you can check the parts list here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/j9zznQ. Thanks for your time.
Hey,
Most of the i5 6600k chips I've tested reach a stable speed near 4.4 Ghz in air. With a water cooler, you could push it even higher.
😀
Sometimes you find a really good chip that performs exceptionally well.

And occasionally, you'll get a chip that won't overclock at all. It's all very much a lottery which one you'll get, so there's no way we can say for sure what you will get to with your OC.

By chip do you mean the processor or chip set. The motherboard I chose is built to overclock, and the processor itself is unlocked overclocking.
The main question: Is it a faulty chip that makes it un-overclockable?
This applies to the processor; as long as it runs at its stated clock speed, overclocking isn't an issue.
