i plan to assemble a pc with gaming mb, fx 6300 and gtx 960 with 4gb ram. later i will slightly overclock the gpu, purchase an air cooler, and eventually boost my cpu to around 4.5ghz. should i opt for a 600w or 500w power supply? and if there are any wasted watts for a while, is that okay? also: http://outervision.com/b/WcyM1A

I plan to assemble a PC with a gaming motherboard, an FX 6300 and a GTX 960 with 4GB RAM. Later, I’ll slightly overclock the GPU and eventually purchase an air cooler, aiming to boost the CPU to around 4.5GHz. Should I opt for a 600W or a 500W power supply? And if there are any unused watts for a while, is that problematic? Also, according to the link you shared, there shouldn’t be any wasted watts.

I suggest a 600W power supply, as you may need to upgrade or install a second graphics card in the future.

Search for evaluations and choose a Tier 1 or 2 PSU that performs well at 70% load for 550W or 60% load at 650W. Remember, efficiency influences electricity usage.
