The blinking is normal during the update process. It indicates the system is working through the changes. The duration should match the manual instructions, so if it's been running for 10–15 minutes, it’s likely proceeding correctly. No issues are expected.

I've never changed the BIOS on a desktop motherboard, yet I updated an OS on a Raspberry PI using the same approach and it took much longer than expected. USB drives are slow, so I'd wait a bit here. If it's been around an hour and it's still active, then I'd stop it, but you don't want to disrupt a BIOS update.

It offers a bit of reassurance. I thought the USB drive might just be lagging, considering it's likely five years old now. I really wish there was a clearer indicator :/.

Sure, it's a pretty cool fix. But if it functions, it should work.

It's still working, but I'm thinking about turning it off now. I don't understand why it stopped functioning and I'm worried about the fix. Pulling the plug feels awkward, so I need some suggestions.

The flash isn't working properly. I don't see any BIOS updates taking longer than a few minutes. Do you have any motherboard information?

Consider using the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk to halt whatever is occurring. After stopping it, follow the recommended steps for safe resolution.
