Based on my observations, Intel’s boost algorithm isn’t very refined—it treats every core usage as valuable and reduces performance metrics accordingly. On my 9600K, I consistently saw around 4.3GHz even when playing non-CPU-heavy games. For titles like Alan Wake, which weren’t designed for multithreading, I occasionally reached about 4.4GHz, though not often. The claim of a 4.6GHz maximum boost appears to be limited to lab settings rather than real-world performance.
