How do you guys reformatting or clean install window 10
Hello. I often question how people set up or install Windows 10 on their devices. Do you usually have an internet connection during installation? I heard some advice suggesting that enabling auto-installation of drivers can be risky, so it's better to install Windows 10 without an internet connection. For an offline setup, avoid connecting the internet altogether. So, how do others achieve a clean installation process?
It's accurate, but it applies beyond just drivers. Without an internet connection, you can skip using a Microsoft account. It's irritating when you're required to connect during login. I've learned that Windows 11 demands an online connection for sign-in, which is really bothersome.
uncertain about the source of that advice, I haven’t encountered any problems with Windows auto-installing drivers yet. I usually just add missing drivers or use an older version. You don’t have to do that; however, I often open Command Prompt (Shift+F10) and clean or format the drive before installing Windows. The only reason to skip internet connection is if you want to avoid linking a Microsoft account during installation.
Thanks for the response! I appreciate the tips on setting up a clean installation. I'll give it a shot!
Thanks! I’m less worried about the Microsoft account stuff and more focused on the graphics driver or chipset problems when Windows updates start downloading on its own.
You can always obtain the official nVidia drivers and set them up once you have a bootable installation ready. Any Windows version will suffice to view the GUI, allowing further steps to proceed.
I regularly clear and reinstall my devices each year. My method involves assembling a second USB drive packed with the newest drivers, programs, and tools I rely on daily. After returning to the desktop and letting Windows Update complete, I simply browse the USB list and install only what’s necessary. It’s a straightforward process.
Sure, I understand. In short, yes—overriding updates directly from the manufacturer should resolve any problems.
