Hi, I recently purchased a new laptop that performs well during travel. However, it runs at a high temperature, so I’m considering lowering the GPU frequency from 4.4GHz to around 3.2GHz. The model is a Dell and I’d like to update the BIOS settings accordingly.

You have the option to adjust specific parameters, such as the CPU's power consumption, using Intel XTU.

Checking the BIOS settings is a common first step. It helps confirm if your system recognizes the hardware correctly.

In older laptops, you often find a BIOS option labeled "low frequency" that lets you turn off turbo boost.

It's a downloadable tool for your laptop: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloa...-Intel-XTU. I've found success with reducing the "Turbo Boost Power Max" by monitoring the clockspeed in the program.

You can get it by using an unlocked CPU version of XTU.

Oh no, this sounds really tough. Can you explain it in simpler terms?

The program offers many possibilities. What worked well for me was adjusting Turbo Boost and monitoring the peak core frequency.
