That increases the chance it's an OEM product. Purchasing separate OEM and relying on OEM from a pre-built unit is entirely distinct. When bought separately, it behaves similarly to retail because those variants are intended for system builders (small enterprises).

OEM stands for OEM. You receive a non-retail package and details about providing tech support to anyone who uses the computer. The codes you obtained—either from the disc or your laptop—will function identically. What you mentioned matches what I previously said.
