How do I fix Windows 11 problems?
How do I fix Windows 11 problems?
I got a new Windows 11 gaming computer from the store. It comes with Windows 11 Home. I found an old 64-bit Windows 10 Pro product key in my email that I bought two years ago from electronicfirst.com. So I looked at activation settings on my new PC and clicked upgrade to go from home to pro. A window popped up asking for the product key, so I typed it in and hit next, then windows started downloading, preparing, and upgrading me to Pro. My computer restarted after that. The upgrade worked fine with no problems so far, but now Windows is telling me that Windows 11 Pro isn't activated. How do I fix this so I can use Windows 11 Pro if it's impossible? Or how do I go back down to Windows 11 Home like I started before? If there was a problem with my product key, why did windows let me keep going without any error or warning messages on the screen? Thanks for reading.
It sounds like your Windows 10 Pro key isn't working right now. How much money did you spend on it? We can still run the computer without a key. Just remember that once you activate it, there is no way to go down to Home Edition. Since I don't know exactly how much you paid yet, the best move would be to buy back a fresh copy of Windows 10 Home so things get working again.
You know, buying those gray market codes just kind of works out okay most of the time. But if you're going to get a new copy of Windows 11 Home on your old PC right now, it's probably best not to buy grey market keys instead. I'm also saying that resetting and starting over with the original version is much better than trying to patch this up later.
You know, if that's the only choice I'm left with, then yeah, uninstalling everything and resetting to a brand new Windows 11 Home install? That sounds crazy but true. And honestly, where do you even see the product key sticker on my PC or in the box when I just unboxed it?
So are those keys from electronicfirst.com actually legit? Also, I don't see the Windows product key sticker on my PC when I unboxed it. So if my only option is to do a fresh install of Windows 11 Home like you say, then how am I gonna activate home after that fresh install since I can't find the product key? If I manage to find or get the home product key from the store, can I enter it in the Windows activation settings and turn it from pro back to home?
A Win 10 or 11 Pro for $10 is not real in any way. You need to ask yourself: how can they sell this? They do not have a special discount line with Microsoft. This is like finding a site selling a new 75" Sony TV for $25. Or a 16TB SSD for $50. You would hopefully run away laughing, knowing it was fake. Moving on... This was a prebuilt PC, with a preinstalled and activated OS? A simple wipe and reinstall of whatever it came with should activate no problem. Key word...should. It was Win 11 Home? Reinstall that, and all will probably be well.
Yes, it's a PC that has Windows 11 Home already installed and turned on. But what happens when you don't have the key for 'Should'? Because I keep getting stuck in an Activation problem after doing a clean reinstall. Is there really a way to get a fresh install of Windows 11 Home without all those extra programs or background processes? Like, a pure version of Win 11 Home with no bloatware and no annoying things running behind the scenes? If that's possible, can I do it this way and still avoid any activation issues?
It ought to work. If the "does not" bridge shows up, cross it when that occurs. Grab and make a fresh Win 11 Home copy straight from Microsoft. It's probably safe to use a "Hardware ID" on a computer after restoring the right software version and keeping it the same. Doing this is likely worth it just in case you want to link that operating system license to your Microsoft account.
