Hello, what is the best way to check if my files are okay when I copy them over 100GB using a USB stick? Last time I was moving so much data with my computer, some pictures got messed up. The size of the files looked right and the thumbnails were fine, but the originals just didn't show fully on screen. Is FreeFileSync safe for this job? I set VerifyCopiedFiles to true in AppData\Roaming\FreeFileSync\GlobalSettings.xml

RoboCopy works well too. But maybe the problem is just the USB cable or the storage drive you're using.

Do you run on Windows? Maybe look into some file sync app. One Windows program I use for years is TreeComp. It lets you manually manage files that change in a folder, and you can pick to compare them by their content (which might take hours).

But I see Teracopy Pro and Beyond Compare are just exactly what you need right now. GsRichcopy360 never fails me when things get tricky like this. If I want to be 100% sure the source matches the destination, I use a tool called "byte-level replication." This feature looks at both files side by side and makes sure every change in one file shows up in the other. For instance, if you have two text boxes that both show (a, b, c), but then your source box gets updated to (a, b, c, d), after running "byte-level replication," only the letter (d) from the new version moves to the old one. This keeps the whole file mostly similar to where it started, except for just that extra change. So if I'm suggesting you use this, I mean you should mirror your source to your destination and then run the "byte-level replication" check. That is exactly what I do whenever I want to be sure everything transferred correctly. Also, I think all these tools have nice-looking logs that will tell you right away if anything went wrong during the process.
