hi, i don't know exactly what is happening here. i thought about coming to you instead of messing up things. on may 30th i downloaded a specific Windows update (KB5026446) and now none of my games work or won't start. since this was just a preview version, i assumed it would be fixed by the next regular update, so I waited for that to come out. but nothing happened until today when someone mentioned the same issue here. It seems like uninstalling that specific update is the only fix. How do i get rid of it? I checked the "Uninstall Windows Update" section in settings before and it was gone. what should i do next?

Welcome to the forum, new guy! Try doing a system restore before this update happened just in case. Also, have you checked if your mother board's BIOS is current?

How am I supposed to fix this? I've never done a backup before and don't even know which one I took. But no, my BIOS isn't old anymore. I looked at all my settings before deciding that the problem was only because of the new update.

Open a command line that has special privileges. Use this command to remove the KB update: 5026446. What is an Elevated Command Prompt? According to the computer dictionary, this means a special version of Windows where you have more control over your computer and can run programs that other people usually cannot access without permission. Here are links for more info on this tool and related terms from computerhope.com

um, I tried that step, but it keeps telling me it's not installed on my machine, even though the program was already set up before this. Is this happening because of a newer update I just did?
