The Netgear Orbi system offers a dedicated 5GHz radio for backhaul between satellites. Many people likely use similar setups now, though not all mesh systems do this. It seems you need to reference others or they won’t get your message. Still, it’s hard to tell if a $200 router with everything in one package will deliver the performance you expect unless you look for slightly used enterprise-grade APs at a lower cost.

Looking for a flexible mesh system under $200 that works well in a 3500 sq ft home?

Reflections on the TP-Link Deco Deco WiFi 6 Mesh Set (Deco X20) – Ideal for spaces up to 5800 sq.ft., serving as a replacement for wireless routers and extenders (3-pack) with six Ethernet ports, including wired backhaul support.

No prior knowledge, but checking the reviews should help. They all seem to accomplish similar tasks—some mention beam shaping, others MIMO or Wi-Fi 6 claims. Over 5500 reviews look promising.

Are you questioning whether Wi-Fi 6 is just hype or if it's actually worth considering?

Think about Wi-Fi versions 4, 5, and 6—they’re just better iterations of the same standard. It’s like marketing 5G as a game-changer for phones and gaming; is that really true? 5G does enhance mobile gaming, but we definitely couldn’t play on 3G a decade ago. Take a closer look at the facts. Wi-Fi 6 is essentially an upgraded version of Wi-Fi 5. There’s usually no need to spend extra for these upgrades.

Yes, you could use a mesh system and connect it directly to one of those satellites.

Yes, this option is available with some features. Google Mesh supports it, Ubiquiti does not. TP Link Deco appears to grant Cat access to each device. The non-WiFi 6 model costs around $139, and the link provided looks reasonable: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Deco-Whol...NrPXRydWU=
