You're considering upgrading your PC and have a few questions about performance trade-offs. The i5 4670K OC at 4.1Ghz should give you solid gaming performance, especially with its multi-core design. The i7 4770 offers more cores and threads, which can improve stability in demanding tasks like streaming or running newer applications, but it may not significantly boost gaming performance unless you're doing heavy multitasking. Since you mentioned needing smoother gameplay and avoiding CPU bottlenecks, the i5 OC seems a better fit for your needs. The extra cores in the i7 won't necessarily make a big difference in games, but they could help with other workloads. If you want to stay within budget and get discounts on Intel, sticking with the i5 is a smart choice.

The best option seems to be the one with stronger IPC and HT, like the i7, but you need to verify it yourself.

The i7 should resolve the skips and jumps, and it won't be affected by the discord feature.

The I5 OC succeeds when you're not too restrictive with it.

These options push the i5 to perform well enough for smooth play, but for Discord I’d pick the i7. For my friend’s World of Tanks setup, a 4790 nonK 3.7Ghz Allcore replaced his 4570 nonK (around 3.6-3.7G). It handled 70-80% CPU load with spikes, especially with just four threads. Switching to eight threads brought the performance down to 40-75% usage, making it smoother during multitasking. It really improved minimum frame rates more than anything else. If stutters are bothersome, an i7 is the better choice—especially if you already have one available for swapping in.
