They've been using 4G SIM card wireless for years with the same provider, but recently their connection has slowed significantly—ping and latency have jumped from around 40-60 to 40-900. I assumed it was the router, so I swapped it out but the issue persists. Could this be an ISP problem? Thanks in advance.

Performing continuous ping tests. Executed CMD twice, ran commands: ping 1.1.1.1 -t and ping 8.8.8.8 -t. Results will be shared; if performance is poor, contact the provider as there may be an issue on their side.

Use PowerShell to check if your local network is causing issues by sending a ping to your router.

Using cellular networks for internet access is becoming common, not just with your parents. Some distant towers can connect wirelessly back to the carrier’s data center, which often adds delay. Although you may experience fast speeds and claim connectivity, latency will inevitably rise. Temporary fixes like restarting the modem or moving it won’t last long because latency remains unpredictable. To lower high latency, explore alternatives such as DSL, coaxial lines, or fiber—if they’re offered in your region.
