High temps on brand new laptop
I recently bought an Asus ROG Strix G17 (2021) with a Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3060 (115w). While playing games such as RDR2 and Valhalla, the GPU and CPU temperatures remain consistently at 86°C. I’m wondering if these readings are typical or if I should consider replacing the components? The room temperature is around 25°C.
Hey there,
Temperatures like this are not unusual for a gaming laptop. No cause for concern.
There are ways to help lower your temperatures.
1. Use a good cooling pad with adjustable height (on the back). Raising the rear part lets cooler air reach the intake fans, which can help keep the CPU cool.
2. Think about swapping out the thermal paste. The standard paste in most laptops works fine, but a better quality paste can improve performance.
3. Try reducing clock speeds to lower voltage and power usage, which should also reduce temperatures and fan noise.
