My GPU Zotac 3070 Twin Edge OC runs steady at 76°C (169°F) during light gaming sessions. Even with minimal graphics settings, it maintains consistent performance and temperature. I experienced no signal errors twice. A significant bottleneck of 40-50% is present, so upgrading the CPU might help, but could it affect the GPU? When running demanding games, the GPU stays around 60-70°C (140-158°F) while the CPU stays cooler. The motherboard and RAM setup seems solid, with a powerful PSU providing ample power.
The GPU fans are running at idle with temperatures around 30-40°C. The rest of the fans operate at lower RPMs, and there is no exhaust fan present. Your setup seems to have sufficient airflow for the current load.
76C performance on a GPU remains unaffected, though your case might lack optimal airflow around the front glass panel. The situation arises because during light games your CPU isn't a major constraint, allowing the GPU to operate near full capacity. However, with CPU-heavy titles (like CP2077 or many TW games), the CPU becomes the limiting factor, preventing the GPU from reaching its potential. Consider using Afterburner or HWInfo to track GPU and CPU utilization while gaming to verify this behavior.
It remains somewhat odd and not optimal due to weak airflow, likely missing an exhaust fan. As mentioned, at around 30°C it idles near 30°C and some titles don’t exceed 50°C while fans remain off. For tougher games it can handle up to 70°C easily, which makes sense given its substantial 270W power draw. PS: Here’s my fan curve—it’s quite aggressive on purpose, but it only kicks in between 40-50°C, usually around 50°C. Of course, this won’t be effective if the rest of the case ventilation is insufficient.
I possess three fans positioned ahead and behind, each included in a case. I’m unable to locate their specifications online, though I believe they operate at 1200 RPM. Removing the front glass panel didn’t change the outcome.

this card might be experiencing unusual fan curve issues. it seems quite similar to what i've encountered before. my recommendation is to keep fans off between 0-45°C, then let them increase rapidly afterward. test temperatures while idle—if fans still activate, adjust your case fans accordingly. if that doesn't resolve the matter, i'm uncertain about a solution. perhaps setting it to start only at 50°C could help. from my experience, poor airflow can be a factor, but even then the card will eventually warm up during idle. you could also review my posted fancurve; it might suit your setup. afterburner behavior may not match your expectations, but it still functions properly. lastly, the hardware might simply run hot—consider changing thermal paste or upgrading components, or accept it as normal until a CPU upgrade is possible.
