High-temperature performance at 9900k with Z390 Aorus under 80-87°C during gaming
I recently purchased a pre-built PC without any prior experience in assembling one. It comes with an Intel i9 9900K processor, a Gigabyte z390 Aorus Ultra motherboard, and an H150i Pro AIO fan. After about three hours of playing Modern Warfare 2019, the CPU temperatures reached 80-87 degrees. That’s quite high for me—it feels elevated. Idle temps are normal around 35-40 degrees, which matches my old system (I7 4790K) that ran at similar levels, especially since I live in Australia where room and CPU temps tend to be a bit higher. The AIO fans are running at full speed. I haven’t changed the CPU settings, but I enabled XMP for the RAM, which was set up by the seller. I’m curious if others have encountered these temperatures with this board and setup.
It seems the temperatures are quite elevated for gaming. Consider reloading your AIO or applying thermal paste again to check if the problem persists.
