High-speed PCIe performance problems at 7800x/X570/4080.
I've been away from PC gaming for a while now. The build I was working on recently stopped functioning properly (the 4080 model is still new compared to my setup). I'm trying to get back in, but I'm facing some challenges. Could you let me know what extra details you might need?
Critical_Process_Died indicates a Windows process crashing, which may stem from various causes but often points to storage problems. This isn’t necessarily a direct sign of a specific problem unless it occurs repeatedly. With consistent crashes, storage issues are likely the culprit. Do you have distinct boot files for Linux and Windows, or do you rely on a single bootloader like GRUB or EFI for all systems? Your aim is to identify shared characteristics—unless BIOS is affected, the commonality probably lies in the boot media. If GRUB or EFI is involved, the drive containing it becomes the focus. Should the drives vanish from the BIOS, the motherboard takes center stage. A storage controller malfunction could disrupt connections, especially if NVMe devices are present. This depends heavily on your configuration. If you haven’t checked Event Viewer for WHEA events, look in Windows Logs → System under Filter Current Log. Select WHEA-logger from the Event Sources menu and save any matching entries. If you have a similar log file in Linux, it might help. WHEA events capture CPU errors and hardware monitoring data.
This can seem overwhelming at first, but I’m here to help. Someone else might have a better grasp of Linux.
