I'm exploring options to link my PC directly via a gigabit LAN without changing my current Netgear router. Could it be feasible to use an ONU with two LAN outputs and connect my PC straight from there? This would allow me to get a Gigabit connection locally while keeping the stability of my existing setup. I'm weighing the cost of a new TP-Link Archar C6 against upgrading my Netgear AC750, as the latter seems more expensive than necessary.

The router in question is a Netgear model without multiple Ethernet ports. Most routers include at least one LAN and one WAN port.

The Netgear model features only Fast Ethernet and lacks Gigabit ports. Consider switching to a TP-Link C6.

You don’t have to rely on fibre-optic for gigabit speeds. Cat5e Ethernet or superior can achieve this as long as both devices support 1Gbps. If the Archer C6 fits your budget, go ahead. It can reach near-gigabit performance over a wired LAN-to-LAN connection (900+/900+ Mbps). Performance on WAN-to-LAN is slightly lower (800+/400+ Mbps), but it won’t be an issue if your internet stays within that range.
