High-speed driving experience Simulated racing adventure
Consider trying Assetto Corsa, R3E, or iRacing with a racing wheel and pedals that don’t offer any help for a while. Adapt to the sensations and then jump into Grid. It feels more like a game than a simulation. I personally don’t enjoy the micro-transactions, but it’s good to test things out for free before deciding to buy more content. Now that full races and online multiplayer are available, the game has much more worth and is definitely worth investing in your favorite tracks and cars.
For realistic racing experiences, Asetto Corsa and Project cars are excellent options. They both offer impressive visuals and perform well on a solid PC setup. I own the latter, though it's still improving; it remains quite enjoyable, especially with a wheel and pedal setup, and receives regular updates. If you prefer something less fully simulated but still engaging, GRiD Autosport is a solid pick—providing authentic racing action with a solid career and plenty of enjoyment.
Try Need for Speed or Burnout first, then Grid. It’s not that overly arcadey, right?
The Grid series shares similarities with the NFS Shift lineup. They offer a more authentic racing experience compared to typical arcade racers, such as Burnout. However, they remain rooted in arcade-style gameplay. The vehicles feel overly responsive with excessive grip and braking power, making them excessively forgiving when things go wrong—like veering off course. Despite this, they still provide enjoyment.
Dirt Series has limited realistic racing options on PC, mostly resembling J-RPGs. There are a few titles available, and those that exist tend to be of decent quality, though they still lag behind console offerings.
