High-speed connection infrastructure
Your setup can work if you use a gigabit switch to bridge the connection. Even with a 10/100 Ethernet router, connecting all devices via the switch will allow them to share the full gigabit capacity, bypassing the slower router's limitations. Just ensure the switch supports gigabit speeds and that your server is properly configured for high bandwidth.
Only devices linked to the 1gb switch can use 1gb connections. Connect your PC and server to the switch, then connect the switch to the modem for internet or DHCP.
What I envisioned was clear, though I wasn’t entirely confident. Once they found each other’s MAC addresses through ARP, they could communicate directly on the network, with the switch managing the traffic. Appreciate your assistance!
