Considering your needs, I’d suggest evaluating both models with a focus on stability and performance in high-traffic areas like the upstairs gaming space. The Linksys MX10 offers solid coverage but may struggle with consistent speeds over time, while the Netgear Orbi RBK853 seems more promising for reliability, especially if you plan to upgrade later. Both have mixed reviews, so prioritize models with strong community feedback and future-proof features.

Do you have Ethernet cables around the house? That would really improve performance, and I’d be able to set up wired APs similar to the UniFi system.

Unfortunately, there are no cables involved, even with a fiber upgrade, it will only reach downstairs and one spot

I’m confident running wires is the best choice for me. Mesh works similarly in this case. If you don’t need additional features, just pick the more affordable option and send it back if it fails. It’s important to understand how it would function here without a physical trial.

as previously mentioned, determining the best method for running a wire will be ideal. if wireless isn’t an option, here’s my top suggestion. https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-Networks...ZVF2&psc=1 I’ve placed these in several cold storage units and they work significantly better than typical consumer devices. keep in mind you’ll need to install the Unifi controller on a PC for setup, or opt for the Unifi Cloud key if you prefer not to spend extra. There’s also a helpful video about their performance, and many more tutorials available online for configuring Unifi access points.
