I switch my setup to another part of the house and notice strong latency (using Ethernet via cable). What options exist to improve this? Could upgrading to a Wi-Fi amplifier help?

Ping was once a tool for measuring network latency, now it serves as a feature in some systems to assess connectivity performance.

Check the length of the cable. Consider upgrading to a superior cable, network card, and modem, or add a switch for improved performance. WLAN serves as a temporary fix but lacks the reliability of wired connections.

Similar to 10 ping, 8 ping earlier, now it's 100 or 200.

It’s not a big concern about the cable. You usually end up with a poor connection. The ping to the modem is around 8–10 ms, which is too slow. Aim for under 0.2 ms for better performance.

Your 8-10ms ping is typical for you.

It seems like you're referring to a latency expectation. Typically, 100-200 milliseconds is considered standard when the device is farther from the modem.
