Hi, your friend recently acquired an ASRock H310M-HDV which only supports CPUs up to 95W. He purchased an Intel i5-9600K for 140 euros and later bought another one. During stress testing, he observed the CPU drawing up to 120W, likely due to turbo boost. About 30 seconds after the test began, it dropped back to 95W. If everything seems fine, it might be possible to unlock it from that point forward.

Asrock boards lack VRM overheating safeguards, meaning you should ensure your friend enters the BIOS and sets the power limit to 95 watts. Another option is to install a downdraft cooler, as the airflow from it assists in cooling the VRM.

The issue seems limited to the VMR temperature. To verify it, he can use a thermometer or monitoring system specifically designed for that component.
