High-performance Ryzen 5 3600 setup
While using Folding@home on a Ryzen 5 3600, power draw hits 85 Watts without overclocking. Temperatures stay dangerously high—often above 88°C—despite a decent aftermarket cooler and open case with two intake fans. Even after reseating the cooler and applying fresh thermal paste, temps never drop below 90°C and the system stays noisy under full load. Long gaming sessions push temps past 80°C, causing throttling and stuttering. Undervolting the CPU is problematic, leading to instability instead of performance gains. Reducing power to match the official TDP (around 65W) brings temps down to about 78°C, but it also limits speed. At idle, lowering it to 64W helps a bit.
Which board it runs on? The processor uses 65 watts of power and seems to be drawing more than expected for its specifications.
