The motherboard supports 32GB modules but only in pairs (2x16GB). It can handle 128GB in a single slot, so you can install four 32GB sticks across the available slots.

Thank you for your response. It seems the availability of large storage was limited, which might explain why it wasn’t widely adopted. Also, the 128 GB limit existed simply as a design constraint. I’m planning to switch from an i7 to a Threadripper CPU, and the GPU will be prioritized because of workload demands.
The chipset appears capable of handling 32Gb modules, though the older i7 6800K isn't working.
