The process running Prime95 could be generating heat steadily while staying within safe limits. Suddenly spikes to higher temps might result from increased load or background processes interfering briefly. Since your CPU stays in the normal range during idle and P95, it suggests the workload isn't causing excessive stress at that moment. Check for background tasks or other applications running alongside Prime95.

Are you using Prime95 with a mixed workload or just static small FFTs? If it's mixed, it moves to the larger FFTs, medium FFTs, etc., reaches the small FFT section that heavily uses the CPU, takes around 90 seconds, and then stops once that part finishes.

Check if the small FFT results are within expected ranges. If they seem unusual, you might need to investigate further.

For tiny FFTs I’d get confused. It’s not a big concern since temperatures aren’t unsafe, but the temperature changes happening without a logarithmic pattern aren’t typical in Prime95. It seems you’re using mixed and not just small FFTs.

It's unclear which setting was active since you didn't specify a mode. Could you clarify the option you're referring to?

The default is varied, which justifies this approach.

It's been roughly a week since I mentioned that. Do you have a frame to adjust bends on your CPU?
