the 7950x is designed to operate at around 13 watts in idle mode. i only adjusted the bios settings for expo frequency and ram support, but nothing changed the power draw. i’m curious about a missing setting in armory crate—maybe there’s a power-saving option I haven’t found. i noticed windows powersaving can bring it down to 37 watts, which is impressive.

CPU idle performance on my 5900X is around 40W, which makes sense since the 7950X draws about 55W. It seems normal for both to use full power.

So far, I've been tweaking things a bit—32 hours in, but I've turned off unused features and the Aura settings. It's actually taking a lot out of me. Also great to get rid of the RGB lighting on the board and the 3080.
