High Gaming Chair
High Gaming Chair
I just moved into our new home and found a few built-in desks that are 37 inches tall. I’m planning to use them for my gaming and work setup. After looking into high chairs, drafting chairs seem like the best fit since they can reach up to 30 inches or more. I’ve been considering the Eurotech Apollo Drafting Stool but would love more advice before making a decision. I weigh around 240 pounds and spend 8 to 10 hours a day sitting on it, whether at work or gaming, so comfort is essential. I also have some back problems, which makes a supportive chair really important.
At your size, just verify the manufacturer's weight limit on the product. Amazon can be a solid option since they accept returns for any reason. They also carry many chairs of that style.
They are awful - make you super sore, bad for posture - get a good commercial grade Office Chair (eg rated for 8 hours plus for workplaces etc). You can find gas lifts/struts that are much longer than usual. Installation or removal can be hit and miss sometimes. That's probably your best option to raise a standard office chair or Drafting chair. Adding thick pillows on the seat adds more than you'd think. If you really need it, you can remove the metal tracks for the slide out computer keyboard/mouse tray and adjust its position. Alternatively, if the table has little metal feet tacked on the bottom, you can rip them off to lower it slightly. It might also be possible to get taller rollerblade style wheels for chairs... or install little extension poles for chair wheels to increase height, or use really tall casters for heavy-duty work trolleys.
