High CPU idle temperatures for AMD 3950X model
I've just completed assembling my new computer, but the CPU temperatures aren't behaving as expected. They fluctuate between 40°C and 60°C, even when idle with minimal load in the task manager. Additionally, the AIO fans are set to silent in BIOS, yet they continue making loud noises due to sudden temperature spikes. What might be causing this issue? Is it typical? Please clarify your concerns.
Zen 2 chips are running at high idle, which is typical. For the AIO, verify it's configured for coolant temperature, not CPU temperature. This ensures a more stable fan speed and delivers real benefits, unlike relying on CPU metrics which only cause unnecessary noise.
AIO seems like a worn-out pump. Do you have an air cooler you could install for comparison?
This behavior is common with Ryzen processors to run at high speeds and generate significant heat. Adjust the fan curve to reduce the impact of temperature spikes.
Usual. My i7 performs identically regardless of the high-end air cooler used.
