I recently upgraded my system to a Ryzen Build. The Ryzen 5 2600 Gigabyte B450 DS3H Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 3200mhz with XMP enabled for RAM. My CPU operates between 3750~-3900mhz across all cores, which is unusual since it should typically run at around 3.4ghz. After checking the BIOS, everything appears to be running stock at that frequency except the RAM. I also have Ryzen Master installed but it isn’t open and doesn’t apply overclocking at startup. The profile I set before rebooting was restored to default in Game Mode. I’m currently forced to reload the profile each time I restart to reset clocks and settings. Is it typical for all cores to run higher clock speeds when idle? While I’d like the performance boost, I’m still using my standard cooler because I ran out of thermal paste and it’s not cooling as efficiently as needed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First, avoid using the afterburner to monitor the CPU—it gives incorrect readings. Second, the base clock is 3.4, and your processor also features a boost clock. Third, rely on Ryzen Master for managing Ryzen systems.

I also looked into cpu-z and it’s showing the same thing. 2. If it’s the boost clock, I’m confused about why it keeps running at that speed even when I’m not using my PC after startup. 3. Right now I use it to lower the clocks back to normal, but it’s frustrating doing so (or maybe I’m making a mistake).
